For all mentoring sessions you will need a DSLR camera. To get the most out of your mentoring session I recommend you have either Lightroom or/and Photoshop.

Learning to shoot in Manual in Six weeks

This is the most extensive of the mentoring sessions that I offer. A six week class covering in depth all the aspects of learning to shoot in manual. This class can be done in person or long distance. I do require that you come to me if you want to meet in person each week. If we are meeting in person then it would be a 1 hour session for those six weeks. But this class is most popularly done online. All lessons and assignments are sent via pdf and each week I will give you feedback and critique your weekly assignment. We would do a Skype session at the beginning so that we can meet each other and then at the end so we can wrap it all up and you can pick my brain during that last session. During those six weeks my email inbox is open to any questions you may have along the way.

Here is the class schedule:

1st lesson: aperture, and initial image critique.

2nd lesson: shutter speed, critique aperture assignment.

3rd lesson: iso, critique shutter speed assignment.

4th lesson: lighting, critique iso assignment.

5th lesson: overview of all elements, critique lighting assignment.

6th lesson : tips on basic editing in Lightroom (if you only have photoshop we can talk about some basic editing in photoshop instead of Lightroom. If you have neither, I recommend purchasing Lightroom before Photoshop), critique last weeks images.

The six week class is $600

One-On-One in person mentoring session

This session we would meet up for a four hour time slot ending after the sun sets. The first part of the session we will go over any questions you have. This session is really custom built around what you would like to learn. Camera settings, manual, editing, lighting, posing. And we can touch a little on everything if want, or if you would rather spend it on just post processing then we can do that. If you need help with feeling more comfortable in manual then we would make our focus more on getting to know your camera. The last part of the session we will shoot together. We will arrange a shoot and a location and get to it. Talking about lighting, posing, and interaction techniques in relation to your subject(s).

Four hour custom class $300

Willing to travel, an additional fee will be applied depending on location.

Skype mentoring session

This session is a one-on-one mentoring session through Skype. A hour and a half were you get to pick my brain. Again, this session is custom built around what you would like to learn. Post processing, shooting style, lighting, shooting in manual. You come up with a list of questions and we can go through them!

An hour and a half via Skype $150

Kim Mitas - Hello,

I am the secretary of the Paulding Photography Club in Dallas GA. We are a club of about 35 members, with an emphasis on photography education and print competition. We have a mix of professional and amateur photographers. We are making preparations for our annual Photographer of the Year banquet and end of year party on December 12th, 2013. This year, we would like to do some door prize drawings for our members, and we wanted to see if you would be interested in donating a gift certificate for any of your Skype critique sessions. Any amount is much appreciated.

Thank you,
Kim Mitas
